Welcome to the Saline County MOGenWeb Site

Saline County, MissouriHi! My name is Kris and I’m the county coordinator for the Saline County project. Please don’t hestiate to contact me if you have any questions or want to submit your work. Many, many thanks to Betty Brooks, C. J. Ellis, and the other previous county coordinators for all of the effort they have put into this site over the years.

Saline County was organized November 25, 1820, (effective January 1, 1821) from Cooper County and named for its numerous salt springs. Bordered on the north by the Missouri River, Saline County was considered to be part of “Little Dixie” in the antebellum years.

I do not live in Saline County and cannot help you with personal research requests.

Please NOTE: The site is undergoing a major overhaul, which will take some time. In the meantime, you can access all of the information that was available up to June 2008 at the archived site, which is located on the Rootsweb server.
