Obituary of Mrs. Nevada Frances Crosslin


THE SLATER NEWS RUSTLER, THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 1941

Mrs. Nevada Frances Crosslin died Saturday, April 12, 1941 at 4:50 p.m., following an illness of several months. Mrs. Crosslin who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shepard, was born June 26, 1878 on the old home place about 2 ½ miles southeast of Gilliam and died at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 14 days. On October 18, 1896 she was married to Joseph F. Crosslin, who preceded her in death, August 12, 1928. To this union were born five children, two daughters and three sons, all of whom survive and they are: Mrs. Howard Beasley of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Marvin Taylor, of Tonawanda, New York, Marvin Crosslin of Marshall, Harden and Henry Crosslin of Hinsdale, Illinois. She also leaves two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Bailey of Slater, Mrs. Florence Huff, Thomas Shepard and Frank Shepard, of near Slater.

The family moved to Slater from the country in 1915. She was a member of Christian Church from which the funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. B. Hensley and burial was made in the City Cemetery.
